Our Repair Service is manned by Peter Buchmuller. His story goes back to the early 70’s when he started working with his Dad – Walter Buchmuller – building and repairing kayaks. This lasted through to 1999 so he picked up nearly 30 years of build and repair experience along the way.
Today, Peter works with fiberglass, composites, carbon, kevlar, and even some plastics. Using these materials he can repair kayaks, surfskis, stand up paddleboards, surfboards, and paddles. His maxim is: If it floats (or is supposed to) and it fits in the workshop, we can probably fix it. And if it has a leak, he’ll find it and plug it.
Some of Peter's most memorable repairs include:
We also maintain a reasonable stock of kayak spares, and can usually source those that we don’t, although there may be shipping charges. Peter has also been known to custom-build spare parts so don’t be afraid to ask!
