Chota Mukluk Light Boots

$130.00

The Mukluk Light boots from Chota are great for kayaking in colder conditions - the 3mm neoprene is flexible and comfy and the cinch at the top stops splashes.

Description

One of our most popular water boots!

These 3mm closed-cell neoprene boots keep you warm and dry up to the knee. The triple-glued and blind-stitched seams are watertight and comfortable. The skin-out neoprene gasket coupled with a nylon cinch strap keeps the top comfortably in place just below the knee and is pretty effective at preventing the boots filling with water.

The boots have a 3mm vulcanized rubber sole with a protective mid-weight sole. Now I had to look up what vulcanized rubber meant - and according to Wikipedia:

Vulcanization or vulcanisation is a chemical process for converting natural rubber or related polymers into more durable materials by the addition of sulfur[1] or other equivalent curatives or accelerators. These additives modify the polymer by forming cross-links (bridges) between individual polymer chains.[2][3] Vulcanized materials are less sticky and have superior mechanical properties.

For us, that means the sole is great at providing traction, and is super durable. In addition to the sole, there’s also vulcanized rubber on the toe and heel to provide additional protection. The boots are sized ‘extra roomy’ so you can comfortably use them with thick socks, because you’re probably going to be using these in the colder months. Despite being extra roomy, the flexible, low-profile design is non-intrusive in confined kayak cockpits.
