Land Ownership

Much of the shoreline of Indian Arm is privately owned. Technically, nobody can own below the high tide line. For this reason, you can land on the beaches below this point. However, it is important to respect people's property, and we do not encourage you to land in front of people's homes. Obviously, in an emergency situation nobody would refuse you the right to land on their beach. There are 5 locations in Southern Indian Arm where you can land, and 2 in the Northern part of Indian Arm.

South Arm

  • Raccoon Island and Twin Island are BC Park Land.
  • Jug Island Beach and Belcarra Park are Greater Vancouver Regional District Parks.
  • In the corner of Strathcona Bay near Grey Rocks is a District of North Vancouver Park.

North Arm

  • Bishop Creek (A.K.A. Berg's Landing), and Granite Falls are BC Parks Land.
  • Thwaytes Landing is a 130 acre parcel of land, located on the west shore just South of Best Point. It was purchase from private ownership several years ago. This was an effort spearheaded by The Land Conservancy of BC (TLC), with help from Deep Cove Canoe & Kayak Centre. TLC fundraised part of money with DCCKC, with large contributions from the District of North Vancouver and GVRD now Metro Vancouver. It is now a Metro Vancouver Park.

IMPORTANT:

Campfires are prohibited at all times in Indian Arm Provincial Park. For more information, please view details from the BC Parks website.
