Race Route: Gray Rocks and Hamber Island Red Nav marker. Figure 8
Distance: 5.5km?
I had a sore shoulder so I thought I would take the night off. Its a long season and shoulder problems can create long term grief.
After a nice sunny day it turned cold. The snow line was low on the mountains. So we have new sponsors, like Mount Seymour Bean Around the World, Molsons, and Mysterioso.
Phillipa Wall won the Maui Jim Hot Spot for the first solo women in a sea kayak. These are great sun glasses specially designed for ocean sports. Polarized for cut glare. The water was choppy and we lost a stand up paddle boarder named Sean Gibson, no loss really. Two SUP paddlers is our record. Also Mike Billy and family made an appearance in their dugs-outs. They, together with some K1 Sprint Kayak paddler had the good common sense to recognize their limitations and turn around. That's the sign of an experienced paddler. Scott Wanless decided to get an early start for re-mount practice. The reflective waves off Gray Rocks Island giving him grief, but it was obvious that Scott has been a responsible surf ski dude by practicing his remount.
He was back on his ski and paddling fast than you can say "Tour de Indian Arm" .
