Race Commentary:

Great Race Paddlers! The Great Kayak Swap is a classic and challenging event. Combining a 5 km paddle, 3 km run and 300 m swim. It features some nice west coast style adventure racing. Some of you chose not to run and that's OK. The great thing about the Tuesday Night Paddlesport Race is that you can make be what you want it to be. Maybe you are a paddler because your knees are worn out. I saw several people following the run route by sea and tha't great spirit.

For the past several years Ty Gee and Terry Lewis have owned this race, showing good form in all disciplines paddling running and swimming. The night was great but with our cool spring many people were concerned about the water temperature, and it was coolish. The trail head had many "Bear in the Area" signs posted but none were seen. New Tuesday Night Race Cynthia Wonham teamed up with Lina Augaitis to form a Surf Ski / Paddleboard team. Despite it being Cynthia's first time on a SUP board, they managed to finish 8th. If you liked this event coming up we have the Maplebeach Race. Paddle to Belcarra, Run to Admiralty Point, Swim back to Maple Beach and then run and paddle back to Deep Cove. The run to Admiralty is an awesome trail run with rolling terrain and ocean views.
